Good day ladies and gentlemen, Rear-Admiral Gilles Couturier, Deputy Commander, Royal Canadian Navy.

1. First question: What is your proudest moment as a member of the Royal Canadian Navy?
Commanding Officer of HMCS Fredericton and her 225 crew members.

2. What inspired you to join the RCN?
Seeing the world and I’ve done it!

3. As a commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, what is your priority?
People, people and people.

4. What is the best thing about sailing with the Royal Canadian Navy?
Teamwork, the team spirit.

5. What is your favourite ship?
Well, Fredericton, but I am somewhat partial to Ville de Quebéc.
Very little, very little, very little…

6. What do you say to someone who wants to join the RCN?
It’s a challenge, you’ll see the world and you’ll meet some great people.

7. West Coast or East Coast?
Some people won’t like this, but West Coast.
